BABETTE BEADS are the result of a collaborative effort between Babette Fisch and Ira Winarsky. This brother and sister team work together to create unique ceramic bead necklaces made with iridescent lustre glazes. The beads are phenomenally fluid in appearance, with a rainbow of colors shimmering all at once out of a rich metallic luster. Like a peacock’s feather, the glazes change color depending on the surrounding light, with different colors emerging and reflecting in each new environment. The quality is especially auspicious in jewelry as the colors of the piece change in tone and sheen depending on the person who wears them. The colors are alive; they change constantly in the light, in response to your movement, and your viewing angle. The incredible transformative beauty of these beads make the jewelry an extremely versatile complement to a wide range of clothing colors or styles. Many of the beads reflect an entire spectrum of colors, while others focus solely on a select part of the light spectrum: blues, bronzes, greens and golds. They reflect your light and redefine it, like a prism. Thanks to Babette’s original designs, necklaces with these phenomenal glazes are now available. Each one is hand-crafted, designed, and finished off with symbolic Chinese decorative knots, such as the “Pan Chang”, by Mann Lih Huang, a Chinese knot artist, and teacher. Each necklace is “one-of-a-kind”, and is entirely hand made and truly unique. No molds are used for the beads, just imagination and inspiration. These wearable art masterpieces are now available on a limited basis.
